Sur Nirman Educational & Cultural Society (SNECS) is a voluntary and non-profit organization registered on June 16th 1993 under the Societies of Registrar Act 1860. The organization has also been registered under Foreign Contribution Regulation Act (FCRA) and the organization is also provided with 80G and 12A certification for a long time.
The organization since its inception is working for the educational, social and economic empowerment of people living in slums and re-settlement colonies especially people hailing from underprivileged and disadvantaged people with a particular focus on slums and resettlement colonies of Central and East Delhi districts of Delhi.
The society’s interventions throughout its existence are advocacy, education and capacity building through skill development. Engaging communities with education to children, formation of Self-Help Groups for women, providing vocational training to school dropout and unemployed boys and girls, awareness on child health, adolescent health, HIV/AIDS, addiction to drug and alcoholism, legal rights of women especially Muslim women living in very pathetic conditions etc.
Sur Nirman takes up and work in the following key areas of interventions by means of advocacy and awareness building, targeted intervention and sustained collaboration with communities for perceptible changes:
Education, advocacy and awareness building;
Training, skill development and capacity building;
Maternal and child health;
Children’s health, education and well-being;
Legal literacy and awareness building;
Skill development, training and entrepreneurial activities for women;
Fighting against all forms of violence against and women and children;
Urban sanitation and women centric community health activities;
